SETTLE effectively resolved a trademark protection dispute in Uzbekistan

Settle successfully advised a major global dairy conglomerate on several IP issues in Uzbekistan, particularly related to trademark infringements. A significant challenge was the illicit use of a renowned dairy trademark in a local company's name. Our primary objective was to educate local businesses on the impermissibility of using registered trademarks within their company names without appropriate authorization.

Throughout the project, our team advised the client on potential measures to safeguard intellectual property rights, particularly concerning trademark violations. As part of our strategic approach, Settle attorneys conducted multiple discussions with local enterprises about the unauthorized utilization of the prominent dairy trademark within their trade names. Following our intervention, local firms ceased any infringements, ensuring that consumers are not misled regarding product authenticity. As a testament to our diligence, no products or enterprises on the Uzbek market currently violate the rights of this notable dairy conglomerate.

In a related endeavor, Settle took the lead in an IP dispute concerning the unauthorized registration of a domain closely resembling the client’s trademark. Through effective pre-trial negotiations, the infringing party agreed to transfer the domain rights, further solidifying the protection of our client's IP rights in Uzbekistan.
